Invoice and Warranty: What to Keep After Buying Electronics
Updated 4 min readBy AUC Smart Services Pvt Ltd
Warranty claims usually fail on paperwork, not on the fault. Keep these few things and claims become straightforward.
Get a proper invoice
Ask for a tax invoice with the seller's name, address and GST number, the date, the exact model and the price. Businesses can usually claim input tax credit on a valid GST invoice.
Match the serial number
The invoice should show the serial number or IMEI, and it should match the device and the box.
Register the warranty
Many brands let you register the product on their website or app. Registration and the invoice together make a warranty claim quick.
Keep proof of condition
- Photos or a short video while unboxing high-value items
- The box and accessories for the return period
- Delivery confirmation and order records
- Any extended warranty documents
Store it safely
Save a photo or PDF of the invoice in the cloud as well as the paper copy, which can fade over time.
